to quote the sound of music "lets start at the very beginning, a very good place to start" .....so thats what i'm going to do. Previous work i have created seems like a very good starting point!

The above images are prints i created when we were given the topic archives and collections. I looked at collections of blue painted china, music collections and collections of dance moves these collections have inspired the above designs. I also have a love for pattern and wanted to show this in my work. Some of my initial drawings are shown below....

A lot of this work was based on cymatics:

"Cymatics (from Greek: κῦμα "wave") is the study of visible sound and vibration, a subset of modal phenomena. Typically the surface of a plate, diaphragm, or membrane is vibrated, and regions of maximum and minimum displacement are made visible in a thin coating of particles, paste, or liquid.^[1] Different patterns emerge in the exitatory medium depending on the geometry of the plate and the driving frequency."

I love the way nature creates patterns like those shown in the above cymatics.
